Background of organization

The indigenous people in Bangladesh are underprivileged; underdeveloped. They are facing challenges to enjoy their citizen rights. There cultural identity is threatening. In Bangladesh indigenous communities in North-Bengal are also deprived than hill-tract indigenous. The indigenous communities in Hill-tracts are advanced for their rights and preservation of their culture than plain land indigenous.

The media also highlights the indigenous communities of Hill-tracts. But, almost thirty-eight indigenous communities are living in plain land. In Joypurhat district many indigenous communities’ lives. In Joypurhat at Atapur and Balighata union there are 12 indigenous cust lives. These are Santal, Urao, Munda, Malo, Mahato, Sing (Gonda), Karmakar, Rabidas, Mahali, Barman (Rajbongsi), Das (Nomo-sudra) & Sil etc.

The indigenous communities’ women and children are more vulnerable than male members. The organization “Adivasi Nari O Shisu Kallayan Sangstha” (ANSKS) formed to stop oppression against indigenous women and child.

Vision

The vision of ANSKS is to establish a society that all people can develop their potentialities through necessary activities of development cooperation for the solution of the problems of modern societies and fundamental freedoms of indigenous peoples are ensured.

Mission

The mission of ANSKS is to bring socio-economic and culture development in the lives of indigenous women & children in north-western part of Bangladesh through forming Participatory Development Committee (PAD) strengthening their knowledge and skill to become self-employed and sustainable livelihood. Hence, they should promote and protect the human rights of the indigenous peoples of Bangladesh.
